Aircraft engines still use leaded gas. Most of the engine rebuilders recommend that if you do run unleaded gas, you should break the engine in on avgas. After the engine is run for 25 hours on leaded fuel, it will have sufficient lead deposits to last until the next overhaul.

The so-called lead additives don't do anything. If you really want to add lead to your fuel, go to the airport and pick up a few gallons of 100LL (100 octane low lead) avgas. Mix it with unleaded regular and you'll be good to go.
