I don't know about Toyota's 4 wd but I did own 2 Toyota 4x2 automatics. As a crop insurance adjuster, I ran a 1986 and a 1989 in all kinds of conditions you could imagine , never got stuck once, no breakdowns ,no troubles what so ever. Traded the '86 for the '89 but when it came time to trade the '89, the Yen was so much stronger than the Canadian dollar that I just couldn't deal. Youngest son ended up accidently burning it (and nearly the barn too!). Only reason for trading was the quick roll up of the mileage involved in that job.
