Cory: Any 06, 56 or 66 series cab will interchange as long as you stay with the large chassis tractor, in other words 7 or larger. You will need slight modification where cab fits around the tractor hood, fuel tank, etc. Also if your 706 has never had a cab the floor will require some slight modification, and batteries will mount differently. These are relatively inexpensive changes. I once modified an Excel cab from a 1066 to fit a 656. I had to completely build both rear axle and front mounting for the cab, as the 656 is a smaller chassis. I had a 1066 with IH ROPS cab at the time, thus I got spoiled for harsh early spring and late fall weather. Everyone agreed I made the 656 with the Excel cab look more attractive than 1066 with the IH ROPS cab. Only real problem I ran into on that change was closing in the back around the 3 point hitch. Never did get that real good. Time being the main factor. It was however a lot better than sitting on the open station 656 at midnight, 33 degrees F, planting corn. Lets face it, my hired hand was in the 1066 pulling a cultivator, why shouldn't I on 656 enjoy the same comfort.

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
