You might want to check out CR39 plastic lens with a TD2 scratch-resistant coating. They're lighter than glass and the coating has a 2 year warranty against scratches. If they scratch, the lens are replaced free. As for the frames, I think you should buy the best you can afford. I've had my latest set for about 10 years now and just replace the lens when required. Good luck.
