The Continental F-163 is a inline4 cylinder that is liquid cooled. Wisconsin is a V4 design that is air cooled. I think there were several different engines used in the R40. I don't know about the two companies merging. I not very fond of the Wisconsin engine, but it gets the job done. I have this same F-163 engine in a forklift and a welding machine, very reliable engines. I think your problem is either a hole in your float or your needle valve. You just have to hang in there till you find it. I will tell you on the F-163 you should be sure your spark gap is set at .020 and try to stay away from Champion plugs, use A/C or Autolite. I have found this makes a difference on the F-163 engine. Hope this helps and post a message when you find out whats going on. Russell East Texas
