I"m by no means a carpenter, either, but, this is what I did for my cabin (to replace having to set up a tent every time we went to my place). I set a form, poured a slab using bagged concrete mix, built the wall sections, stood them up, used a "ram set" to hold them down, roof trusses, Hardi Siding, the whole 9 yards. It"s been a LONG process (building this thing), because it"s just me and the wife doing the work, but, it"s bug/mouse proof, insulated, and air conditioned. I"ll send a few photos if you"re interested. Good Luck on whatever you decide to build!
