: I have a 1948 Ford 8N with the original 6 volt ignition
: system. A year ago I replaced the battery. Since
: the battery replacement I have had what appears
: to be battery corrosion dropping down on the aft
: section of the engine (this is a gray/white deposit).
: There is no corrosion on the top of the battery.
: Can anyone help me identify what is happening
: and how to take care of the problem? Thanks.

Had that problem with a Fiat locomotive that had beed dropped at Miami.
Was a very, very, very small crack at the bottom of the battery case.
Had to wash with soda and water and then repaint the area. Leak was
about the amount of a bead of sweat in over an hour. Can cause all
kinds of problems. Look and see. Luck D.O.N.
