Don't be afraid of the 400 series engine. If the tractor has a water filter assembly, its just a matter of changing the filter and a little additive now and then. The 1066 has a turbo charged 414 CID engine, while the 1466 has a 436 turbo charged engine, (same block, different crank, pistons, and head). The 10 and 14 have the same transmision and rearend. I used to turn wrenchs for IH Dealership, and there are a lot of 400 series engines out there with 10,000+ hours on them that have only had the rod and main bearings changed out in the 5000 to 7000 hour range.
