The most frightening splitter I ever saw was at Mount Pleasant IA. It had an axe head welded to a steel wheel (ground drive wheel off a binder I believe). The other end of the axle had a belt pully. It was belted to a tractor and some idiot got to throw the log under the turning wheel.
