On a mounted picker, the more hp the better. We had a 227 on a 620 and with a big wagon behind and muddy field conditions, the 620 had all it wanted to do to keep going in low or second at best. Then when you would open up a field, and get hung up in a mud hole, then what to do, can't back up and can't go ahead. Get another tractor and back up behind the wagon and pull it backwards far enough and then hope you can back the tractor and picker out of the hole, and if not---I hate the thought. Ahhhh, the good old days.
