I agree with you on those GM trannys; it is the lipped seals that give 'em most of their problems. I always figured about 7 years of use on a 350 tranny....ferget about the mileage.

Now, I never tried puttin' one in mothballs either. I guess all you can do is give 'er a try and see. Heck, junkyards sell 'em that way all the time. :>)

Did it have oil in it? That unit uses steel valves in a cast iron body. If it was dry, I'm just afraid that it might be all rusted up inside.

Dunno, give 'er a run and see I guess.
