It is good that you and the tractor are o.k. The reaction of putting the bucket down has to come with practice, most people would not think that fast with out experience. The trailer sounds like a 7K trailer which is 7K gross weight and the trailer probably weighs another 15 or 1600 pounds. It sounds about right. You can adjust the tongue weight by positioning the tractor on the trailer (more forward or back) in relation to the axles. You need a healthy bit of tongue weight or the trailer will fish tail. This gets hairy real quick. If you can not get it adjusted right, the truck is not sized right for the combination. good luck and be safe, George
