I was raised in Texas from 1941 to 58 and wetback is a term used to signify an illegal alien from Mexico. It is not a racist term but one designating an illegal that in those days was jailed and deported back to their place of orgin. There were thousands of Braceros or Legal Entry aliens working farm work at the time in Pecos and seldom were there any Wet Backs among them.
