Rick, I usually agree with most of YOUR postings, but I can tell you from my experience (and I have seen many, many pinholed Fords) that 95% of these are turboed engines. Reason seems pretty simple to me. For a given size displacement engine, a turbo engine generates more power, consequently there is more vibration on the cylinder walls due to the increased combustion pressures, and we both know that vibration is what is causing these failures. Another factor when discussing Fords and pinholes is that Ford was casting some pretty rotten blocks in the early to mid 80's. Even though they swore up and down that they weren't having problems, we all knew it was a bunch of BS, as they were covering a # of failures under an unannounced "extended warranty". You knew something had to be wrong when some of these engines were not even getting 1000 hours on them before they failed. Just curious, what exactly is your experience. For awhile there I was assuming that you worked for a dealer (as I do), but one of your last postings blew a hole in that idea. Just curious. E-mail me back if you care to-this site is getting a little crowded.
