In the late 40`s my grandfather befriended a panhandler with no legs that came through our town in west Texas twice a year. The panhandler invited him to his place in Oklahoma for fishing. Grandad came back with the story that the guy lived like he was rich. He kept going back for a couple of years then the panhandler died and the fishing trips stopped. After hearing that story as a kid it has always been hard for me to give a panhandler anything.
