We used to use the fertilizer box all the time when sowing wheat but what was put on then was at a rate of 200# per acre of 3/12/12 and later 6/24/24 with no problem and after the old horse drawn drills from before fertilizer they all had both boxes along with a grass seed box and you never seen a drill without the fertilizer box untill about the time the notill drills came out, this is in west central Ohio
