Tell us a little about the variable speed sumersible. Does it us a VFD controller? What is the HP and how much do you figure the variable speed feature added to the cost? What is the make of the controller? I have an 8" well that is about 35' to water and the well is 70' deep. It has a line-shaft turbine in it and a right angle gearhead powered by a gasoline engine. We only use it a few months in the summer. I have toyed with the idea of removing the turbine and replacing it with a 6" 3-phase electric submersible, maybe 12-15hp, dropped in the same casing with a VFD controller. It is located 1000' from the 3-phase power source.
