Kohler makes some good engines, but they have made junk engines also. The KT17 HP engine was the first junk Kohler engine I was ever ripped off on {twice}. But I don't know of any Kohler that can't be rebuilt. There are guys on ebay that sell overhaul kits, some kits will have new pistons. there are also Kohler engines on ebay. watched a 22 horse, still in the crate go for around $700 tuesday. And then someone will have a used up 22-25 horse that will bring 1000 dollars. But if you watch ebay, you will find a new 22-27 horse for much less than $1700.
