First off, let me be foreward and admit, I'm a cat lover. So my views may be a bit askew. We have a bunch of cats on the farm. I remember one hard winter, there were so many mice comming into the barns, and the cats were killing so many of them that they weren't even hungry enough to eat them all. There were actually dead mice laying around, and a bunch of well fed content cats laying around the barn in the dead of winter. We also keep house cats. We have one that can catch bats. We have had 3 or 4 bats in the house and he has caught every one. Generally the females are the best hunters, but this guy is something to see in action. And if you're concerned about your landscape, think of how many rabbits you'd have if it weren't for the cats. So if you really want to deter them, there is a relatively new plant out marketed as "Scardy Cat", it is in the Plectranthus (Sweedish Ivy) family, and it is said to deter many animals, including cats. Depending on where you are located, you may have to wait until spring to find it, but it is said to work. It has a bit of an odor, and will continue to deter them after other sprays and such have worn off or washed away. You might want to give that a try. Chuck
