Going into the service is a good idea. You may not always enjoy where you are, but for a few years you can deal with it. Why? Because if you use your head you can come out with a good chunk of money, (if you don't blow it "having a good time" while you are in) and a good education. And some life experience which will help you to know what you want to do, and maybe where. The money you save while in can get you into a house, or start a business, or give you a good start for retirement, whatever, but it is hard to save as much, AND learn a job on the outside.
