It takes more energy to split the water into two parts Hydrogen and one part oxygen. Than what you get in heat or electrical power when burning the hydrogen.
Hydrogen is hard to store as the molecules are so small they sneak through rubber and steel. The hydrogen also makes most metal brittle.
Hydrogen generation is the only real use for wind or solar power.
