Well. John D has one of the most sensible replies I've seen on here. As for limited energy? No, just how much do you want to pay for energy. It will take $$$ to set up large scale coal gasification. And more nuclear power to produce hydrogen. As for oil reserves? Alberta has more oil than the middle east.Only problem, it's stuck in the tar sands. It takes $$$ to extract it rather than just sinking a well and pumping.
