Where are you located? Here in northern ND, I just got a quote of $2.29 for heating oil, and propane is still available at summer fill rates of $1.09. Typically, the heating value of propane is quoted at 80% of #2 fuel, but a super-efficient propane furnace, vs. a typical oil furnace can narrow that gap so it's virtually nil. So, at least around here, propane is quite a bit of a better deal.
