Bullseye, I"m not sure which planet you have been living on, but all you have to do is look around you to realize that those countries whose governments have the most control and regulate most, ultimately have the most fuel shortages, more polution, higher fuel prices, more corruption, and less chance of ever being competitive in the overall fuel and energy field than those countries whose governments allow market forces to reign supreme. The U.S., while not entirely devoid of government meddling and manipulation, is so far less inclined to, thus we, in spite of all the carping, and recent high fuel prices, get more fuel for our money and more energy for our efforts than any other country. If you think socialism will help one iota, then you have fallen into the trap from which you would one day regret immensly. Capitalism, while it allows some people to acquire great wealth, also allows others to benefit from competition. Additionally, contrary to unpopular but noisy opinion, George W. Bush DID NOT create the fuel problem, and we are better served if we don"t lay the solution in his lap, because his solution means letting the government solve the problem which it can do, but with catastrophic consequences.
