Hey Guys, I've been wondering just what percentage of the cost of a gallon of gasoline is represented by the actual oil that is in it? With all of the added costs for import costs, refinery costs, distribution costs, wholesaling costs, retailing costs, advertising costs, tax costs, etc., etc., it seems to me that the actual oil cost is probably a relatively small percentage of the cost of a gallon of gas. Having said that, if the cost of crude oil has increased by 50% over the past few years, why has the cost of a gallon of gasoline also increased in cost by 50% over the past few years? The other things didn't (or shouldn't) have increased by 50%. So what all has increased? I'm no socialist. I'm not in favor of price controls or rationing. But I would like to have the truth about why the finished product has increased in price so dramatically when only one component of cost has gone up? What do you think? Tom in TN
