Bob, first thing is I trust the Pertronix is correct for what Polarity youre set up for??? + or - Ground?????? MAKE SURE IT IS Second thing which could possibly affect wiring, is whether or not youre using a 12 volt coil or have a 6 volt coil with an external ballast resistor??? On the plug gap it depends: If you have the regular stock coil, I would use the same gap as original. HOWEVER, if you bought an after market high voltage high performance coil (like the Flame Thrower or an MTD or Accell etc.) designed for electronic switches, I would take advantage of the switch n coil and run a gap in the at least .035 to 0.050 range. NOTE: To get the benefit and bang for the buck available from that electronic switch, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE USE OF A HIGH ENERGY COIL !!!!!!! While even a stock coil will be more efficient using that elec switch, to utilize it to its max you ought to use a high energy coil, that way you end up discharging more spark plug gap energy (to better ignite the fuel) across a wider fatter hotter spark!!!!!!! Make sure of your grounding polarity matching that new switch and if you run a wider plug gap and a hot coil, you need good quality plug c couil wires, check with Pertronix for suggestions on coil n plug wires!!!!!!!!!!!
