Then there's the one about the plight of the farmer with a pasture on an island 1/2 mile off the coast of Newfoundland, near St. John's:

A young moose had somehow made its way across the water to the island and joined the farmer's herd of beef cattle. This went fine until the calf discovered that he was a male and started mating with the cattle. This made the St. John's papers and much merriment ensued until a pub group named What's His Name and the Other Fellers recorded the song, "If You Can't Be With The Moose You Love, Love The Cow You're With."
