Duramax engine is made by isuzu. I have a 2002 duramax, crew cab, 2500, long bed, 4x4 with the allison trans. I get 17 miles per gallon driving the heck out of it. Have got as high as 21.5 all highway keeping my foot out of it. 13mpg towing. Have 85000 miles on it and it runs like a top, lots of power, no problems.
My 1994 chevy 6.5 diesel had 160,000 miles on it & still ran great. 16 - 17 mpg.
