DI water is to be used in batteries.
Distilled water is not DI water. DI water is what you would get from a water softener type system. Think about it. Batteries get fouled out from the deposits on the plates. Distilled water is simply evaporatd and then cooled, so nothing is removed. Qualitative analysis as done by the teacher mentioned, who uses water from a dehumidifier is a scary statement.
