Need ID/pic of one-armed plow

I'm a librarian looking for a picture for one of our patrons. He has what he describes as a one-armed plow. Written on it are "S. HALL", "iron centre", and "patented April 1848". Does anyone have any idea what this may be, and where there might be a picture (online or print)? Any help appreciated!!
