The live pto option for NAA was a dealer installed system that was operated hydraulically. I don't know the finer details, but I know there was an auxiliary hydraulic pump attached to the vane pump on the side of the engine. It was plumbed to the pto unit on the left side of the tractor. If you look in the Parts & Pieces gallery (link to the left) and type in "NAA live pto" in the search box you should find some photos I took of a junkyard NAA that still had some of the live pto parts installed. To my knowledge there was never a double clutch 5 speed trans with live pto installed on an NAA. At least not one that made it to retail sale....maybe a factory experimental.
