the 3rd number in a lincoln rod chart designates the position. 1 any position, like a 7018 or 6010 or a 7010 , a 2 in the 3rd position designates flat or horizontal like 7024 and so forth. just a fyi hope it helps someone. the 4th number is the type of flux . any number that ends in 4,7, or 8 is a jet rod and can weld with maitaining minimum gap between rod and metal. other ways known as a drag rod.
