Hey, the Chinese have come a long way since The Great Leap Forward back in the '50's. That's when Mao got everybody in the country to make pig iron in their homes, using -- no kidding -- backyard blast furnaces fired with charcoal.

They met their quota for iron production, some astronomically high number. None of it was useable, but they met the quota and the behemoth of Chinese industrial production started rolling.

They can feed their people now, and as long as Harbour Freight, Walmart and Canadian Tire sell us back that scrap metal at an 80% markup, they should do o.k.
