Sounds like you should flush the cooling system. Goes a long ways in keeping them cool, and these old tractors get a lot of crude built up in them and don't cool as they should.
I'd drain the system, then fill it with white vineagar and fire it up and let it get good and warm. Shut it off and let it cool, drain that and then if you can pull the block drain and hook up a hose to it and flush the system back wards with the cap off. Go in have a beer or 2 and just let it flow for and hour or so. Then let that all drain and refill with a 50/50 mix of water/ antifreeze
