2 coments. first how full is your oil because if it was over full and you had it on an angle there is a chance the crank case breather pipe that goes to the inlet manifold could have started sucking oil instead of vapor. the next thing is if the oil return (no preasure) from the head to the oul pan is restricted you get an oil pool in the valve cover then you can loose oil out the breather cap and quite alot . I have seen on an older jap car with a sideways engine the hole at one end of the head was completly blockes and every time the owner would drive along the creek crossing it would blow white smoke. he was told by a mechanic he needed a new engine. it was fixed with a screwdriver by opening up the drain/return hole in the head. thats my 2 coments.
