Diesel in a gas tractor will run poorly and develop little power. Put gas in a diesel tractor and it will run extremely hot, damaging the engine. May also twist off the injector pump drive shaft, since the gas provides no lubricity. Hired help did that to my JD4430 years ago, but got by with just draining fuel, replacing filters, repriming. Did not run it too long, came to ask if I had diesel fuel in the red pickup tank, and had gas in the green tank. Tech said if it had been the 4020, likely the pump shaft would be toast.
