John, I don`t think there was any problem with IH`s styling in that time period. Those `40 and `60 series tractors came out in 1958 and were competing with JD`s `20 or `30 series.I for one don`t think they took a back seat to JD in the styling dept!If anything, IH was late getting a tractor out to compete with Deere`s New Generation tractors in 1960 or `61,but that wasn`t a styling issue as much as engineering and ergonomics.At least that`s my take on it, Mark
