Can you find a wider belt, new ulley or groove the old pulley?
If the driven pulley has been buffed to a mirror finish by a slipping belt. There will not be enough friction to transfer the thrust from the belt to pulley.
Belt dressing is a vicious circle of softening/gooing up the belt and pulleys. The more you use, the more you need.
More than a few people crippled applying belt dressing onto a moving belt. Seen my Maternal Grandfather loose the cuff off his shirt sleeve. He just shrugged and reached in a again and applied more belt dressing..........................................
