As previously stated, saves having to mess with points and capacitors.
As for increased or variable dwell time,faster switching time and ability to run lower resistance coils? A low rpm four cylinder has more charge time and an easier plug gap to jump. Than a 6000rpm supercharged V8.
Contrary to popular belief. Adding electronic ignition, a straight exhaust pipe and premium gasoline. These mods will not make your M out pull a 450.
