rebuilding Midwest grain bed

I'm putting new lumber on a Midwest truck bed that I've already got some new crossmembers in.

I was wondering - - would it be worth the trouble, or is it even advisable to lay down a bead of good silicone around the perimeter of the new boards so dirt/fines won't collect and draw moisture.

I've got my 2x6 t&g boards primed and painted and after the paint dries just a touch more I'll be ready to put this thing back together.
