It might not even been gear lube. At least once a year we'd get somebody into the daelership who'd "tried to save some money" buy buying El-Cheapo $18.00 a pail napthinic based hydraulic/transmission fluid instead of the OEM fluid. Usually cost them about $2000 in parts and labor for new clutchpacks and brake discs after thier bargain oil ate all the glue off and disintegrated the plates.
