That's the beauty of taking an oil sample out of the dipstick or fill port with a vacuum pump.
If the vender won't let you take a sample or "lift up her skirt to take a look". ( Won't let you remove the filter for a look even when you bring a new filter along with some oil.)
Walk away from certain trouble and be glad.
Did you smell any burned or sulphur type gear lube smell in the hydraulics/trans ?
Any chance of sueing the dishonest vendor?
