Cub Cadet 1110 blades won't engage?

Hope you can help me... I just bought a used Cub Cadet 1110 in good shape, got it home, and mowed about 10 feet when the phone rang. I went to get it, and when I got back, the blades would not engage when I flipped the PTO switch... it previously worked just fine. Mower runs great, but blades do not turn for some reason... any ideas?
