I have worked on both and used both and will be very honest. the new dixies arent too bad the old ones are a nightmare. if you you go with a old one the drive system was much like old motorcycles slag clutch etc. the new dixies w/the hydraulic orbit motors are ok work well. i like the grasshpper vs exmark in the fact the deck sits up front vs underneath your feet works better for trimming pines etc if you have the like. even though only 2 acres if you go w/the dixie etc go w/the commercial mower upfront cost may be couple thousand but will serive you alot more years many many more dont underbuy.
