Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks at manifold , or carb gaskets. You can spray carb cleaner or WD 40 around, if engien picks up ,runs smoother you found leak . Some carbs are a real bear to clean, depends on what is gummed up in them . I found toilet bowl cleaner will help remove some deposits . Other times gotta get the tag wire out and do some digging in passages .
