Old Horse Tank

I had been wanting the old horse tank that was sitting on a farm near here. It was made from native rocks and covered in concrete. Yesterday, we went over in the morning to see how hard it would be to move it, then came back in the afternoon to try. We found out that it was one HEAVY monster! So heavy, that a MM U302 could only lift a corner about 8". We ended up breaking it loose from the ground, sliding the trailer underneath one corner, then pulling it on the trailer with the tractor. The bottom of the tank was made from rocks "fist size to head size", bonded with concrete. We knocked a few rocks off the bottom, but all is well. Unloading was easier. It is amazing that this tank has suvived time and the weather for 94 years since my Great-Grandfather built it in October of 1913. I still have to get a spot prepared for it, but it is here anyhow!
