I am fortunate enough to have a neighbor with 250 acres of farmland and a massive antique tractor collection. Over the weekend, I heard the unmistakeable sound of an antique tractor working, coming from my neighbor's direction. Getting out the binocs, I see my neighbor on his Massey Harris 55 diesel, pulling 2 disc harrows. This morning, as I walked outside I was greeted to a different sound- a hearty putt-putt. Sure enough, now he was driving a JD model G pulling the same 2 disc harrows. I wonder if the MH broke down? I'll have to ask him about that. It sure warms my heart to hear old machines like this actually doing work. A beautiful spring morning, chugging along on a beautiful old machine in the sunshine discing a field- what could be better. As soon I can, I hope to get my '40 and '47 JD B's in operable condition, so I can offer some putt sounds to the neighborhood as well :)
