PTO shaft question

I have PTO shaft with bad bearings in the U joint. I've looked at farm parts catalogs and see that there are a number of different series of PTO parts 6N, 2N, 14N, etc. and all have the same size bore/shaft ranges. I don't see any markings on my shaft. How do I tell what I have so I order the right parts?
