Now you bring up a new can or worms. Yes a leaking coupler will do it. Also what model Oliver? All Oliver hydraulic valves have the check valves built into the hydraulic valves.
Now with that being said can you let the bucket down with the engine shut off? You can have a leak there but I need more information as what model tractor you have.
