Interesting- no, I've never seen the old Allis tractors with 38" rims, not even at antique pulls. If the outer planetaries were eliminated the axle speed would be fast, torque light and even worse with taller tires? I could see it being possible to turn the plantaries upside down but haven't seen that done either- will look for those kinds of set ups.
